Odysseus: For some, war becomes home

They threaten to take her and Ithaca by force if she does not choose one of them as her husband. After 10 years, Odysseus has become unrecognizable, and he needs to assess the situation before planning his strategy to get rid of these vile people who bleed his land and take his rightful place as king. This is not a film loaded with computer graphics special effects and aimed at teenagers, but rather at intelligent adults with adult emotions and rationality. The cult script of the late Edward Bond, John Collie and Uberto Pasolini is a pleasure to listen to, especially when it is performed by first-class actors.
It shows an excellent and complex game
But in most of the film there are no dialogues at all. The actors work a lot with the “subtext”, especially the brilliant Juliette Binoche in the role of Penelope. Ralph Fiennes gives the best performance I’ve ever seen. Mr. Pasolini also directs the film and does a good job of keeping it focused and tense.

The photography is by Marius Pandourou, who is wonderfully assisted by the magnificent scenery of the island of Corfu. The impressive and restrained soundtrack was written by Oscar winner Rachel Portman.
