The story of how a young Donald Trump started his real estate business in the 1970s and 80s in New York with the helping hand of infamous lawyer Roy M. Cohn. Roger Stone, a longtime associate of Donald Trump and Roy M. Cohn acknowledged that Jeremy Strong’s portrayal of Cohn was “unsurpassed in its accuracy”. Shocking scenes usually have a purpose
Anti Anti Preperformed by Consumers Licensed to Domino Publishing Company Limited (PRS) obo In The Red RecordingsWritten by Paul B. Cutler Published by BMG Rights Management (UK) Limited.. Films have been on a wild swing lately and I’m here for it. Megalopolis was a nice mess, Joker 2 was a mess without being lovable (but it took a chance I guess), Terrifier 3 was truly nauseating (I didn’t sleep well last night because I saw it last night too), and now The Apprentice goes to some insane places . There are a few points where I wondered, “can they show this?” I was shocked.
Will Trump Sue?
I don’t think the movie’s argument is presented without much subtlety, but I guess some people still think Jordan Belfort is cool based on The Wolf of Wall Street, so who knows. However, in this case, there is one very disturbing scene that seems to make it clear what the filmmakers were thinking about Trump’s character. It will be the most controversial scene. Has he already started this process? This scene also lacks follow-up, which left me even more uneasy and upset.
I think that was the intention
Some people won’t like it — people who both like and dislike Trump — and I wonder if it’ll make The Apprentice this year’s blonde. Apprentice writes things and I don’t like it. I don’t think it knew how to end, but otherwise I found it fascinating. The three leading players – Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong and Maria Bakalova – are phenomenal. Juxtaposing the rise of Trump with the fall of Roy Cohn was an inevitable angle, but it makes for extremely compelling drama.
This movie will be on my mind for a while
It’s a blunt film, but there are some nuances in parts that I think will spark discussion and/or controversy. I’m not necessarily into provocation, but if it feels purposeful and is backed up by good filmmaking, I’m all for it.
